WHO WE ARE - WHY WE EXIST

Orange County, once the jewel of Southern California's coastline is experiencing an alarming number of water quality problems along its creeks and coastline.

The local water authorities, overwhelmed with the magnitude of these problems, cannot resolve these fast enough without involvement from you, the public.

The Citizen Watershed Monitors of Orange County (CWMOC) sponsored by Southern California's Regional Water Control boards, was formed to grow the citizen water quality monitoring effort of watersheds in Orange County, with a networking approach and with participation from the involved agencies, non-profits, and community based organizations.

CWMOC provides a forum for water quality monitoring related information sharing, technical assistance, quality assurance exercises, and field monitoring coordination involving people from the community with all levels of expertise. Volunteers from the public are needed on an ongoing basis to help with field events. All ages are welcome, and parents are especially encouraged to involve their children.

Our mission is to restore our creeks and beaches back to health, for the sake of our own health - and that of the natural habitat's plants and creatures.
